My collection of free short stories. Because nothing else in life is free.

A new blog and we want you to help.

“A Knife And A Quill” is a new blog I’ve created with other writers and artist that will feature dark literature, from self published books to children’s books. So far the staff is four people strong and we have a lot of content coming out on Friday.

So there’s many things you can do to help.

1) Join the team. We are looking for article writers, someone with a little spunk who like to write 2-3 articles a month about writing news, keeping with our dark theme most of the time. We are also letting bloggers use their own amazon affiliate links so they profit off the traffic here.

2) Donate. Soon there will be an icon so that you can donate to make the site more dynamic. We only need $100 every year to make the blog a full fledge website.

Also, click on our Kindle Store link if you plan on making amazon purchases. We get a percentage of anything you buy through our Amazon Affiliate links and even that will help the site.

3) Let us interact with you. Need a book review, let me know. Want an interview, send me a message. Want a contest advertised, shoot me the info. Want your site featured in a blog, then maybe we can trade.

4) Send us any crazy short story you have, which we will throw up on “The Wall”. We’ll showcase strange, weird short/flash fiction every now and then which you can add as a publishing credit.

5) Follow us. It’s that simple. If you have a wordpress account or an email address, we would be thrilled to have you following us.

6) I’m almost out of ways you can help. 🙂 But the last thing I could think of is just communicating with us. I respond to everyone and love talking to anyone who’s brave enough to leave a comment. I may not have awesome ties to agents or big companies, but I do know lots of writers and after talking to you, I’ll know one more.

  1. I have great admiration for new enterprises. I was a technophobe who forced themselves to start a blog to promote my books when I was thrown in the deepend of this new and strange world of published writing 🙂 I struggled and am still struggling with… what the hell is a blog, how do you set it up and what the hell do you do with it when it’s set up 🙂 This is my blog If you like dark you might like it… although it’s ridiculously amateurish. I’m learning as i go along.

I wish you aboslutely the best of luck. It’s a fab idea and I hope it works for you. 🙂

    • Thanks. So far we are 5 writers strong, I expect at least two more by the end of the week. I’m also always looking for articles about books and writing and if you have something you want to post let me know. I want to help as many authors as possible. 🙂 We are also doing book/story reviews and interviews. If you want any publicity, let us know. We’ll do what we can for free.

  2. Looks like a great venture! Can ya put up a link and comment when you’ve done so. It’s a pain in the… Ear when on the phone to navigate WordPress.

Looking forward to it and am (only) considering of offering some pieces…

    May 15, 2012 at 5:35 am

    • Ha. I had this post schedule to go off at 3 in the afternoon so I could add the link and some other but much like my alarm, I accidentally put am instead of pm. Whoops. 🙂

Eitherway, link is live and we’d live to see anything you got.

      May 15, 2012 at 6:49 am

      • I know the alarm clock problem well, especially working a rotating roster.

Amateur at best, but I’m about to attempt a couple of reviews of books I’ve been meaning to do. Just be interesting to get some feedback on the reviews, and to see if they are blog worthy. They wouldn’t kinda fit into my blog genre, but it be good to get word out about some hidden authors out there.

        May 15, 2012 at 9:37 am

      • Well, if you want us to also post your review let me know. 🙂 We could always use more content and new relations with other authors. Please let me know how we can help you.

        May 15, 2012 at 10:12 am

      • Hehe, that’s what i was getting at.

Not much of a horror writer myself, but i love to read it.

        May 15, 2012 at 10:41 am

  3. Sounds great! I am following you and “A Knife And A Quill”!

    May 15, 2012 at 9:48 am

    • Awesome. Glad to have you following us. Always feel free to leave a comment or even send us a short story. 🙂

      May 15, 2012 at 10:09 am

  4. Tell me what you need and I’ll help if I can. Obviously I’d love publicity, anything you can offer. I’m new to the world of publicising myself and not very good at it. I have plenty of writing if you want some shorts or even a slighly longer one to serialise. They’re posted online but I’m happy if you want some padding for you to do what you want with them. I write mainly m/m would that be a problem. Interviews would be good, too. 🙂 Send me any questions you want and I’ll answer honestly. I warn you, thought I’m very dark and very strange and if you lead me down the right (or wrong) path I could say almost anything although always the truth

    May 15, 2012 at 10:25 am

    • m/m? m&m’s 🙂 Right now we are more interested in article type writing. But would love to see short fiction for “The Wall”. What we are looking for is more of a speculative fiction/ paranormal/ crime / or horror. But if you have stuff in that genre, be it reviews or writing tips. Let me know. I’d love to see what you have.

      May 15, 2012 at 10:28 am

  5. Sounds like an interesting venture, although I’m so much of a newbie that I’m not even sure what you mean by “dark” literature, lol. I do love reading and writing ghost stories, but I’m thinking you have a different idea of “dark” than I might. In any case, if I can figure it out, I’ll follow you. 🙂

    May 15, 2012 at 10:27 am

    • If someone dies in it, it’s what we are looking for. 🙂 So crime, horror, speculative fiction; I think i’m mostly just staying away from romance/erotica and non-fiction.

  6. Wishing you all the luck in the world. What an awesome platform
We would also like to offer our help. We are always looking for platforms that will allow us to compose. We are always looking for avenues to get our writers known through their various submissions. We would obviously also like to profit from our writing be it through “writer love” given by fans as well as any other gain possible.
We also love to help build any platform that one day will be able to be an interesting affiliate in the industry to submit for.
We are willing to join the team if you have some space for a unique combination of Aristocracy, south african boeties and sussies and the just plain interesting dark derby gals, stage diving and adrenaline junkies who all love to pen and compose using words.
We would also love to offer any publicity or cross marketing that can be done by our two platforms, at no charge.
We look forward to seeing what and where this interaction will lead.
All the best. Lady Eternity Ravenheart

    • I would love any help. I’m currently looking for article writers. People who want to write about books, writing or writing products. I currently can not offer any payment, but I am letting all writer’s use affiliate links. I’m asking any Article Writer, to post at least 2-3 times a month.

I am also looking for people who just want to post articles whenever they choose. I won’t make them a contributor to the site, but I will lovingly give any good article a home.

Cross marketing is a awesome idea. I haven’t really pushed any websites yet, but will pretty soon. I’m not afraid to ask for anything. 🙂 Why don’t you send me an email at with a summary of what your site does and can do for writers. (You guys must have an amazing webmaster, btw) And we can get something worked out.

After we get some nice traffic, I’d love to make a bigger push on getting stories on our “Wall”. Now, I believe content is what brings readers to us and then hopefully “The Wall” will help keep those people coming back. 🙂

  11. I write book reviews and have a blog where I post my reviews and things that interest me about books, writing and authors. Would love to help!

    May 16, 2012 at 10:52 pm

    • We’d love to have you. Send me something, anything. It could be a review, an article, whatever really. 🙂 And if I like it enough and you can post 2-3 of them a month, I’ll make you a contributor. What do you think?

      May 17, 2012 at 12:47 pm

      • You like darker stuff, correct? Murder, blood, guts…anything I should stick away from? I think there was something about no romances? I’ll send something off to you within the next few day. And if you like it I could post 2 – 3 a month. Thanks for the opportunity!

        May 17, 2012 at 2:57 pm

      • Agreed. 🙂

        May 17, 2012 at 3:02 pm

Looks like a fun venture! I look forward to following. I’m a very new blogger, about 4 weeks old. I’ve been writing some reviews and maybe sometime in the future would be able to contribute. Best of luck to you!

    • Let me know I’m always looking for reviewers. 🙂
